I was born and raised in the Chicago area, and lived in the city for over 25 years after completing a Bachelor of Arts degree at Augustana College. I now live in Ann Arbor, Michigan. A largely self-taught visual artist, I’ve nonetheless been guided and inspired by a variety of teachers and learning experiences, including classes in Art History, ceramics and Japanese 4-color Woodblock printing in college, photography classes at the Uptown Hullhouse Center in Chicago, and more recently, print making classes with Paloma Núñez-Regueiro at Signal Return in Detroit,  and with Janice McCoy at the Flint Institute of Arts. My visual art-making is also deeply informed and inspired by a lifetime of music listening, study, and performance—trumpet, recorders, West-African drumming, and choral singing. Today, the invisible sounds of music—curiously feed my visual imagination.
